Zareena obtained her BA and LLB degrees from the University of Cape Town (“UCT”). She is a former practising Advocate with a diverse range of legal experience in many disciplines of the law. During her five-and-a-half years at the Bar she had the privilege of appearing in the Constitutional Court, in the landmark HIV discrimination case of Hoffman v SAA, and in the Supreme Court of Appeal in the case of The Permanent Secretary, Department of Welfare, Eastern Cape Provincial Government and Another v Ngxuza & Others (a class action where disability grants had been unlawfully terminated without due process). She further has extensive experience in Pensions Law as a Senior Assistant Adjudicator in the Office of the Pension Funds Adjudicator, having worked there cumulatively for six-and-a-half years, and in the corporate sphere as Head of Legal and Compliance: Industrial Funds at Momentum for two years. She has over seventeen years’ experience as a lawyer, has a creative legal mind and is passionate about the law and social justice. 

She is currently a legal consultant providing consulting services in respect of Pensions, Labour and Commercial Law matters. She further provides Pensions Law training.
